Katie Moras, Owner and Director
El Bosque founder Katie Moras is a licensed K-12 Spanish teacher with a passion for broadening students’ and families’ worldviews via second language and cultural instruction. Katie taught junior high school Spanish for six years in the south metro prior to opening El Bosque.
Katie earned a B.A. in Spanish from the University of Minnesota where she received the prestigious “Department of Spanish and Portuguese Student of Honor” designation in 2001 for her dissertation on “La Identidad Nacional Cultural de Guatemala.” She is currently completing work on her Master of Arts in Teaching from Hamline University.
Katie built her near-native proficiency in Spanish by spending time in a wide range of Spanish-speaking countries including Guatemala, El Salvador, Belize, Mexico, Spain and Puerto Rico. In 1997, she completed a study in conjunction with the U.S. Immigration Service at Brownsville, Texas and Matamoros, Mexico.
When she’s not working, Katie loves to spend time with her husband Jim and their two children Courtney and Cody. In addition to travel (her goal is to visit every Spanish-speaking country worldwide), she enjoys reading and taking classes in everything from pottery to linguistics.
