Katie Moras, Owner

KatieMoras 2016-0109 cropEl Bosque founder and owner Katie Moras is a licensed K-12 Spanish teacher with a passion for broadening students’ and families’ worldviews via second language and cultural instruction. Katie taught junior high school Spanish for six years in the south metro prior to opening El Bosque.

In 2017, Katie completed her Master of Arts in Teaching from Hamline University. She earned a B.A. in Spanish from the University of Minnesota where she received the prestigious “Department of Spanish and Portuguese Student of Honor” designation in 2001 for her dissertation on “La Identidad Nacional Cultural de Guatemala.”

Katie built her near-native proficiency in Spanish by spending time in a wide range of Spanish-speaking countries including Guatemala, El Salvador, Belize, Mexico, Spain and Puerto Rico. In 1997, she completed a study in conjunction with the U.S. Immigration Service at Brownsville, Texas and Matamoros, Mexico.


In December of 2016, Katie was recognized as the Savage, Minnesota Chamber of Commerce’s Person of the Year! “It was clear that Katie was an obvious choice for this year’s award. It has been fun to watch her open her doors and grow her business,” Anne Masis, president of the Savage Chamber of Commerce, wrote in an email to the Savage Pacer. “We were there for her ribbon cutting at the grand opening of El Bosque Encantado in 2013, and have watched her school grow. When she’s not working, Katie loves to spend time with her husband Jim and their three children Courtney, Cody and Andrés on their farm in Prior Lake.

In addition to travel (her goal is to visit every Spanish-speaking country worldwide), she enjoys reading and taking classes in gardening. Katie also spends a lot of time with her commitments to River Valley Church, where she and her husband serve as Deacons. Katie works with women’s ministry and prison ministry at Shakopee Women’s Prison.

Katie is joined by Director Alejandra Rodriguez and 14 teachers at EBE — all have passed thorough background checks, are CPR certified, and are highly skilled in their field.
